Opening of a cashpoint

Today I went to the opening of a cashpoint in Digbeth. It was momentous – the first charge-free cashpoint this side of the Bullring in living memory. Nicky organised the ceremony and Jon was the master or said ceremony. Here’s the vid:

    I don’t remember the one at the Rotunda, but the first automated cashpoint in Brum was at the Natwest at Fiveways, next door to the Business Link building.

    You could only get £10 and the process was quite complicated involving a cardboard punchcard type thing which was then returned by post. Banks were open only on weekdays until 3pm, and there was no such thing as cashback in shops, so it was rather useful.
