The Birmingham Half Marathon took place today where thousands of people who’ve trained hard for months got up early and ran through the rainy streets of Brum for 13 miles. Since the route went near our house we got up about 10-ish, mooched down the road to take some photos for a bit before returning back to the sofa for a cuppa.
I took the tripod and had a go at capturing faces with the 450mm zoom. It was tricky at first (not unlike shooting birds in flight) but I figured out a panning system and got some good results. I quickly chose 68 of them and threw them of Flickr. Here’s the slideshow:
I’m going to take these, crop the faces to the same proportions and make a poster. At some point.
Well done runners!

hope u asked permission first from the runners Im sure I wouldnt want my face to frighten the kiddies on a poster
@alf – Yes, I ran along side each one and got them to sign a waver.
They were taken in a public place, I’m not selling anything (the file is available on Flickr under a Creative Commons license for anyone to download and print) and I don’t need permission.
