A few have become essential. Plus this was all about not upgrading (upgrade fatigue, as I call it). I think I may have too many wp instalations out there. I was hacked too, and posted a fix which tbh is a lot more complex than it first appears. Mine was caught before there was too much damage. We really do need an alternative to WP.org now.
