Being somewhat noctural I have issues with the wee hours, specifically which day they belong to. A day begins when I wake up and ends when I go to sleep if I wake up at noon on a Thursday it’ll still be Thursday 16 hours later even though technically speaking it’s 4am on a Friday. This concept works well for me and while I do have to careful about writing “see you tomorrow” in emails sent in the middle of the night (since they’ll be timestamped as being sent “tomorrow”) the system generally ticks over without me giving it much thought.
Which is why when Karen announced the 4am project would take place at 4am on Saturday April 4th my brain read that as meaning I’d be staying up very late on Saturday night. That 4am would be part of Conceptual Saturday, you see? Not part of Conceptual Friday. Friday is the 3rd which doesn’t have a 4 it so it can’t be right, my brain says. And since I’m going to London this weekend for a break away from the crazy I figured I’d be doing my 4am photography down there.
Since it turns out I’m wrong I’ll be joining Karen and other nocturnal Birmingham photographers for a 4am walk starting at the brass bull outside the Bullring and taking in New Street Station and the Wholesale Markets into which we have been given access. And then I’ll figure out how I’m going to get down to London for Saturday morning without spending the whole weekend in bed recovering from lack of sleep. Maybe I’ll just write off Friday. That could work.

Indeed the same thing did dawn up me 2 and so much i had to seek clarification from the Lady of the ball herself….
Staying up is easier than getting up in my humble opinion therefore like you it remains the day before…
It has always struck me as curious how it can be a completely different day in a different part of the world….
You’re going to London to get a break away from the crazy?! That’s like going from crazy to mental!
@antonio More accurately I’m going to stay in house by the Thames in Richmond (I think) so it’s kinda away from the crazy. Definitely not going into Zone 1!
