Urban explorers invade Ashton & Moore, Birmingham – The factory co-founded by my grandfather recently moved premises but the old building hasn't been re-occupied. Lovely photos as ever from the 28DL chaps but with a personal resonance – I'm sure I remember some of those rooms from when I visited aged 8.

About this site
In June 2000 I started blogging at peteashton.com and 10 years later in June 2010 I decided to stop. Blogging here, that is. I started a clean slate over on I Am Pete Ashton and maintain all manner of other web presences which are all listed here along with my contact details.
You probably came here via a Google search or from following a link on some old blog post somewhere. I hope what you find is useful in some way, though do check the publication date - it might be rather old now.
Thanks for your eyeballs.

Yes, there is a personal resonance for me too, I virtually grew up in the place! It’s interesting how the visitors describe the various spaces and the activities they assume went on there (quite accurate, actually). And the “then and now” photos struck a particularly strident chord as I remember when it was one of the first automatic plating workflows in the country. That would have been around 1960.
I wonder what will happen to the Victorian frontage? I don’t think it’s listed. Anyone from the BCT interested?
