I’m going on a course tomorrow. It’s held in a hotel somewhere south of Birmingham for four days. I don’t know what sort of internet access there’ll be and if I can get online how much time I’ll have be on it as it’s intended to be quite an intensive course so I’m assuming I’ll be off the radar until Friday evening.
The course has been organised by Helga from Fierce Earth and is titled Metapod Fast Forward. You might remember I did some lecturing for Metapod last winter explaining blogging and such to what I guess you’d call sole traders in the creative industries, for example painters who had started making money from their work but, because they’d spent all their time painting, had no idea how to run a business. Sort of like myself, really, so when Helga announced this course I figured it’d be a good idea.
I’m not sure what I’ll be getting out of this but at the very least it’ll give me some space to think about how I’m going to run ASH-10 next year and help me develop a framework for planning my business, or something. There are speakers but a lot of the course is group work with other small business types from Birmingham with an emphasis on the creative industries. Social Media Consultancy might not be strictly a creative industry but the pattern of “doing something because you enjoy it and it suddenly turning into a business” fits me well.
I may blog about this, I may not. I suspect not. But you never know. What I do know is I’ll be busy so unless it’s an emergency wait until the weekend before getting in touch!
Have a lovely time. Perfectly reasonable place to be.
