This is the personal blog and main internet hub-thing for Pete Ashton. What you'll find here is a seemingly random collection of stuff I want to talk about and share. If you want to know where I'm coming from you'd do worse that check the about page.

WordPress 2.5 Sneak Peek. This won’t be news to those who uses WP as it popped up in everyone’s Dashboard this week but it’s worth noting as the atrocious user interface for Wordpress has always been it’s weak point compared to Movable Type and others. This looks to brings things up to scratch. Can’t wait!

“the atrocious user interface for Wordpress has always been it’s weak point compared to Movable Type and others”
Having used both WP and MT in equal measures over the past few weeks, I’d have to say that I only partially agree with that.
I prefer MT3 to WP, but I’ve come to the conclusion that as far as the interface is concerned, I’d take WP over MT4 any day.
WP, like MT3, is a bit clunky, but it’s functional and gets the job done. MT4 looks very slick, but just doesn’t feel right in action.
MT4 scores in other areas and I still find its templates easier to work with than WP’s, even since they became hellishly complex.
To be honest I was thinking more about comment moderation. I really miss things like being able to select a whole raft of comments with two clicks and Shift.
The main problem I have with WP is it’s a mess and daunting for new users, which is kinda my business at the moment. So this makes me happy.
