The Charms of Wikipedia. Great review article about Wikipedia that delves in the culture of notability and delightfully reveals the rise of the anti-deletionists, of which the author counts himself as a member.
A lot of good work—verifiable, informative, brain-leapingly strange—is being cast out of this paperless, infinitely expandable accordion folder by people who have a narrow, almost grade-schoolish notion of what sort of curiosity an on-line encyclopedia will be able to satisfy in the years to come.
I must say I stopped editing on Wikipedia because of this attitude. I sort of understand the rationale but it’s not for me.
