One of the big things at SXSWi this year appears to be instant video uploading and posting, a combination of live streaming and archiving. Or something. Jo’s been delving into this big time learning loads from the likes of Phil Campbell so look to her for all the useful stuff over the next few days as she digests it. In the meanwhile, go look at this video from Fray. I’m not embedding this because you need to see the page it’s on. She was videoing the intro story by Baratunde Thurston which was going straight online to her Qik page. Qik automagically sent a tweet to Twitter saying this is happening with the URL and Dubber came to watch. The magic happened when Dubber started leaving comments which popped up on the screen on her mobile, to which Jo answers into the mic of the phone (quietly so as not to annoy anyone).
So, to summarize. Jo’s vid-casting a show in a bar in Austin using her mobile phone direct to a website which hosts it under a unique URL so Dubber in Birmingham, UK can watch it with about 1 minute’s delay and leave comments which Jo can see on the screen of her phone. I’m not sure if I can summarize it any more than that - its still kinda revolutionary in my mind. The potential uses are massive and, I suspect, not figured out yet.
But yeah, go follow Jo’s blog if this interests you. She’s absorbed a hell of a lot of ideas and theories about this in the last 48 hours so once that’s all processed we should learn a lot.

Have a look at bambuser.com Pete. Works the same way. And as the server(s) in Europe, the lag will be less if you are in the UK. Jo can give you an invite, or I can if she has none left. You have no idea how envious I am of all you guys over there.
Thanks Mark. I did see Jo using Bambuser when she was at that thing in Preston (?) with you and didn’t really get it then. I think I’m getting it now. Problem is I’m in the iPhone club (though I guess it could work with the Mac’s iSight camera?)
Also Pete, you should try Flixwagon. Works better and not only on the N95.
