Hmm. I checked out FMB and it was okay. Pretty funny in places but didn’t make me grin like a baboon.

I think this stuff is terribly subjective.

You find this funny? ‘Down the Line’ and ‘Bearded Ladies’ are the two shows on Radio 4 that have me running across the lounge to turn off the radio.

Dammit. Just came here to also plug Fags, Mags and Bags and Jez beat me to it. It’s really wonderful. And I am not the son of a shopkeeper.

Agree with most of the rest of what he says too. Making my posting here all the more redundant.

It is easy to get the idea that Radio 4 comedy is sub-par because if you catch the wrong bits (Bearded Ladies, Quote Unquote, the mysteriously endlessly recommissioned works of Simon Brett) then, yes, they’re fucking awful. But everything Jez mentions (except possibly the 15 minute musicals which I haven’t heard) is wonderful. And you should give Ed Reardon’s Week a go when it next crops up. It’s funny anyway but all the more so if you work from home.

I really enjoyed Fags, Mags and Bags. OK, I'm the son of a shopkeeper, but I think sons and daughters of people in other professions will too. Not sure why you're down on Radio 4 comedy. Milton Jones is top, I liked the 15 Minute Musicals, Mitchel and Webb Sound is on tomorrow, and the recent run of Armando Iannucci's Charm Offensive (with Armando Iannucci!) was ace.
