Apologies for the pun.
Unsane are an American hardcore noise-rock sort of band. They played at the Custard Factory in a gig promoted by Capsule. It was very loud. Very loud. So loud I felt my bowels might give way at one point which is both worrying and oddly exciting. I actually went deaf for a while afterwards, which was nice considering this is Going Deaf For A Fortnight fortnight.
However, I can’t be arsed to write about it. I did take photos and, in a radical new development, shot a bit of video. Unfortunately the speaker of my camcorder pretty much gave up with the so you might want to turn down the volume a bit.
Long haired chap feeling the rock

Bass playing bloke Dave Curran

Rather impressive drummer bloke Vinnie Signorelli

Three videos of dubious quality:
This one is from the encore where they played a Black Sabbath tune in honour of playing in Birmingham. If you can figure out what it is then you win a prize.
In conclusion, while being mildly devastated that the singer from Bee Stung Lips was ill the band played well without him.
Unsane grew on me as the night progressed. I particularly liked the extended drum intros and bluesy elements. Hardcore, while exciting, can be a bit dull unless the band tweaks it slightly. I liked their tweaking. By the end I was a convert.
Audience: Not that full to be honest but those that were there seemed to be enjoying themselves a lot and it did mean there was more room to rock out.
That’ll do ya!
(Russ L was also there – we had good chats. I may write about the stuff we chatted about later. We’ll see.)

That long-haired kid was so happy.
