You’d think, in this great mashed-up music environment where the metaphorical lamb is lying down with the metaphorical lion and it’s raining toads, that combining the noble and ancient art of a capella and the more contemporary school of the human beatboxer would work rather well. And, in the case of The Carleton Singing Knights, it does. In places. The four tracks on their MySpace are interesting and technically sound but thety don’t quit pass into levels genius. That said, I’m still desperately intrigued to check out their many albums to see what their versions of The District Sleeps Alone Tonight by The Postal Service, Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, Part 1 by the Flaming Lips and, of course, Romeo & Juliet Dire Straits. That last one could be really funny.
