The Scaremongers are Armitage and Smith. Armitage you’ll know as Simon, the poet of some repute. Smith, aka Craig Smith, comments here as Smithylad and also runs the O’ReillyGMT blog. He’s been a friend since my London bookselling days.
I always knew Craig had connections with Simon Armitage but this kinda came out of a blue, especially as I had no idea the latter could sing. It’s quality work, familiar in a warm sort of way. Two songs are out there for free download on the MySpace (with Creative Commons licenses naturally) and a double-A-side single on that round plastic stuff is due out soon.
