Shorter Flickr URLs

I don’t know how long this has been the case – I only discovered it just now by accident – but Flickr now gives you a shorter URL.

In other words this:

flickr.com/peteashton

now works and takes you to this

flickr.com/photos/peteashton

which is terrific as the latter always looked a little crap when printed on cards.

(peteashton.flickr.com doesn’t work though.)

    I’ve always thought your Flickr URL screamed “early adopter” in a most uncouth manner, but that’s just me being jealous because /pete had already been taken.

    I wonder if, perhaps, they’re going to introduce some kind of portfolio page which you can decorate with your favourite photos and such. There’s a lot of demand for that sort of thing but it goes completely against the Photostream ethos. This could be a compromise.
