The New Grey Whistle Test is an internet music TV show who were filming at Sunday’s Dufus gig and since they’re Midlands based and covering things I might be interested in I wanted to check them out. Unfortunately they’re using Windows Media Player for the video which means I can’t view any of it as Microsoft stopped supporting WMP for the Mac years ago. Not a real problem for me as there’s plenty more internet out there that wants me to experience it, but it did strike me as a strange decision since the prevailing trend for online video these days is Flash (YouTube, etc) or podcast-friendly Quicktime. I can’t think of the last time I came across streaming Windows Media. But most interesting of all is the large “Troubleshooting” link slap in the middle of the screen. Still, I’m sure they’re doing sound work with good intentions. Maybe one day I’ll be able to judge for myself.
