All Tomorrows Parties 2007, the music festival for the more discerning punter, has been announced. The lineup is still in flux (so far only The Dirty Three confirmed for weekend one, 27th – 29th April) but the venue has changed to from Camber Sands to Butlins Minehead (map). Getting there is, as with Camber, going to be something of an adventure. A bit of preliminary investigation reveals there’s no train service to Minehead, merely a bus that leaves from Taunton every hour. That bus is going to get pretty full so probably won’t be a go-er. Alternatively there’s a National Express coach (singular) which goes right to Butlins itself and only takes 4 hours from Birmingham. I suspect car shares will be the way forward, though that coach has me intrigued if it doesn’t sell out immediately.
Then there’s the chalet sharing though that usually works itself out in the end, and there are more options now.
I went last year and had a terrific time in so many ways so I highly recommend going. I’ll keep you posted as to which weekend we decide on nearer the time.

I was talking to Elaine about this the morning, and though we were initially quite excited by the 2 berth option (a place of our own !!!), those aren’t self catering, and I think I’d miss not being able to do a quick fry-up.
However, I think I’m going to hang on until after the Christmas one before I decide whether I want to go. The new location apparently has about double the capacity, and there’s some logistical wristband fuckery apparently coming up that I imagine they will have to replicate next Spring. I’d like to see what the word is after that one first.
I must admit Im disapointed that they have moved to Minehead – Camber Sands just seem so perfect (no big Burger Kings and the like, the smallish size, that fantastic beach). It will change the whole feel of it being twice the size but thats still only going to be 6,000 people which is the guest list at V or Reading.
Still Im glad we were there the final weekend at Camber. And The Dirty Three seem intersting for a curator too.
Eek. Is Minehead really massive?? Also- are they only doing the one weekend this year because it’s bigger?? Are they cramming it all in to one weekend??
Oh well…..i’m still excited. :)
No, 2 weekends, just weekend 1 has been announced so far.
Confirmed to play on the weekend with The Dirty Three, will be a solo performance by the legendary Nick Cave, who headlines the event. Also confirmed to play are Grinderman, Papa M, Low, The Drones, Tara Jane O’Neil, Magnolia Electric Company, Brokeback and Faun Fables. More to be announced soon.
Bugger. I’d really like to see Magnolia Electric Co.
