Glad you like the photo. Interesting discussion you’ve been having. In pretty much every aspect this photo was rubbish when it came out of the camera. It was too dark, the colours were muted and it was badly out of focus but there was something there in the composition which gave me the impetus to spend a while in Photoshop rescuing it, dodging and burning and carefully sharpening it. One of the essential aspects of photography to me is the capture of that moment where everything comes together, what Cartier-Bresson called the ‘Decisive Moment’ that moment of beauty otherwise lost forever. Digital processing enables us to rescue more of these moments than we previously could and so makes photography a much more rich artform. That’s my two cents anyway.
