Off to Supersonic in a bit (I bailed out of the Friday – too tired) and it’s raining, which has thrown me. Do I wear a coat? It might be wet but it’s still warm. Do I cycle? If I don’t cycle I can walk back (unless there’s a taxi-share going on) as it’s only 4 miles. I’ve got about an hour to deal with these traumas…

About this site
In June 2000 I started blogging at peteashton.com and 10 years later in June 2010 I decided to stop. Blogging here, that is. I started a clean slate over on I Am Pete Ashton and maintain all manner of other web presences which are all listed here along with my contact details.
You probably came here via a Google search or from following a link on some old blog post somewhere. I hope what you find is useful in some way, though do check the publication date - it might be rather old now.
Thanks for your eyeballs.

Hortus pendansis x vulgaris says: orange day lily. Probably a variant thereof, given the number of petals.
Hey, I got the “orange” bit right!
If you were really that horticulturally pedantic then you’d call it Hemerocallis fulva ‘Flora Pleno’ with the botanical latin in italics which you can’t do on here.
For the record, to put words, be they Latin or not, in italic, surround them with i tags thus:
<i>Hemerocallis fulva</i>
Personally I think “orange flower” give sufficient information.
You’re probably right! And they are very orange! It looks like artificial lighting at night or something similar? (Thank you for the nudge to find out a bit more about HTML, I’ll shut up now…)
It was a very sunny day but the flower was in a secluded part of the park so it’s being lit from above with a strong light while the surrouding area is quite dark. Which makes for a fucking nice piece of contrast!
A bit more context:

Notice how my entire post is in italics? That’s because I missed the stroke in the closing tag. And didn’t preview it.
One day the people who write applications like these will give us a built-in HTML checker. Or not.
Oh, such things exist, but I believe you should work for your freedom to comment.
