Steve says: “I may need the gi-normous Little Nemo book to put Calvin & Hobbes in their place, but as it costs a ton” which reminds me of the Little Nemo collection I picked up a few years back for a tenner or so which, which not complete, is pretty hefty and well worth getting hold of so I check the ISBN on Amazon to see if it’s still available and by fuck it’s selling for £200 second hand. Which is really odd as, while a nice enough book, there’s nothing particularly special about it – just your usual Taschen reprint of out-of-copyright work. Which I picked up for a tenner or so.
I think eBay might be calling…
Note: this is the 1905-14 comic by Winsor McCay we’re talking about here, not the fish…
“and by fuck it’s selling for £200 second hand.”
Well, it’s available for £200 second hand, which is not the same thing as actually selling at that price. Can’t help thinking that it’s bound to end up back in print at some point too.
Yeah – the taschen book went out of print quite quickly. The only time I saw it in a store was in Borders on Oxford St, and it was such an appallingly thumbed copy that I left it on the shelf. Ho well.
I had a similar experience with a copy of American Psyco recently. Hardback UK copy from 1999 bought for a quid from remainders book shop somewhere in Birmingham. Sold it on ebay for £64 just before xmas. Not in brilliant condition either. SELL IT!!!
The auction is up…
I’ve got that book too! I can’t believe how much it is on amazon. I mean it’s a good book, but £200…..
I technically don’t own it any more. £31.00 with 8 days to go…
£67, which is not £200 but it’s still more than a tenner.
There’s a new Nemo reprint on the shelves of Nostalgia as I type. It was about13 quid I think, which is a bargain because it looks rather lovely. Also Craig Russell Conan book which is very beautiful and new Sgt Rock by Joe Kubert and …
Did I mention I’d sort of started buying monthly comics again?
