Come down

I am unwell. Which is not much of a surprise really, but still kinda annoying. Why, I wonder to myself, am I unable to do a project like GDFAF without suffering afterwards? On Sunday I was feeling more euphoric than I’ve felt in months but come Monday I’m knackered, weak-kneed, thick-headed and have the most aggressive chesty cough. All very tedious.

So I’m mostly sleeping, watching all 12 hours of LotR and slowly editing the GDFAF posts for the zine. Any new content will have to wait.

You were a bookseller selling books over Christmas - how many times were people able to cope with the busy period but picked up colds etc in January.
I think you’ve gone through the same thing: it’s about being ‘on’ for a period of time, that heightened sense of occasion that a project like GDFAF brings you. Whether it’s adrenalin or something else, it keeps you going while you have to, then drops you down when you finish. It (nearly) always happens and it’s a price worth paying.

I agree with Smithylad. One idea for the future - take cod liver oil capsules!

At this time of year all children turn into poisonous little virus factories. You have just spent every evening in a closed room full of people. Some of them are bound to have children in school, and so are spreading their contagion hither and yon. Did you expect anything else :)

Jez: while you have a point, the room was a very large church and not overly full and while I did spend a small amount of time in the house of the niece and nephew, I suspect I’m suffering more from standing in smokey rooms getting all sweaty and then cycling for half an hour in sub-zero temperatures.

Thats what I meant. Those other sweaty people have children - some of them anyway - and you’ve spent several hours cooped up with them. Me, for instance. It’s be snotty-nose central round here for the last week.

Ah, apologies. I thought you ment the Orchestra on Saturday, not the gigs in general.
