Observation at work in the car factory. While the majority of men there are of all shapes and sizes the team leaders can be identified on sight by the largeness of the shoulders. Not just big shoulders but thick necks and a large, puffed out chest. Seeing them all together in the office is quite daunting. I wonder if it’s a pre-requisite to promotion?

About this site
In June 2000 I started blogging at peteashton.com and 10 years later in June 2010 I decided to stop. Blogging here, that is. I started a clean slate over on I Am Pete Ashton and maintain all manner of other web presences which are all listed here along with my contact details.
You probably came here via a Google search or from following a link on some old blog post somewhere. I hope what you find is useful in some way, though do check the publication date - it might be rather old now.
Thanks for your eyeballs.

louise told me that people with fat necks are considered by the medical profession as more likely to suffer from heart conditions…
not a scientific fact, as far as I am aware – but something to mutter in a moment of discontent.
Not necessarily, mainly a bizarre beleif that everyone ‘loves’ overtime, everyone is a workshy idle b*stard and that at the same time people should love working for their factory at a pittance an hour… trust me, remember that workhouse I stayed in for a year in east birmingham. ALL PEOPLE IN THE CAR INDUSTRY ARE INSANE. This is a polite public health warning
NB: Completely unrelated to post but can’t be arsed to use webmail.
Did you know Ceri has moved back to brum? Is alive and well and living in Kings Heath with Li’l James and Rik (Jules boyfriend). Just thought you’d like t’ know.
When I left college I worked in a kitchen furniture factory for 6 years, and my supervisor was a real nob-end. He loved Princess Di and kept saying how he’d “drink her bath water” as he casually flicked through his Daily Star. He had a thick neck too, with a lovely gold chain around it. Well he was from Romford.
That is an excellent piece of observation.
