Pictures for Posts

Just implemented a minor new feature which won’t be that obvious. I’ve been wanting to include more photos on this blog to break up the text so I’m going to start sticking pictures, some relavent, some totally random, on most of my rambling blog entries. For example, the previous post to this one has a picture of a couple of mail sacks. Or at least it does on some parts of this site.

A worry with this was that the site would get too image heavy and take an age to load over dialup, so I’ve set it up that the first six posts on the main page have images but the other 12 don’t. Similarly, the individual archive for each post has the picture but when you look through the monthly or category archives they won’t be there. (This only applies to posts posted post this week.) The images will appear in all RSS feeds.

For those interested, the image resides in the Keywords field of the entry field and is included in the templates as needed. To only have the first six posts on the main page display their image I have two MTEntries tage, the first with the attribute lastn=”6″ and the second with lastn=”12 offset=”6″.
