[Update: All better now]
Shite!
Um, you’ll have noticed it’s all gone MT default on the main page. Due I strongly suspect to something weird the template for this page got cropped losing about 3/4 of the html. And I don’t have a backup. At all. So while I re-do it all (which shouldn’t be that hard as all the design stuff is in the style sheets) you’ll have to put up with this. Ooh, the embarrassment…
It’s a bit odd, what happened, because the same thing happened when I was fiddling with Matt Abbiss’ stripblog earlier in the week. I was changing the templates and all of the saved except the Individual Archive one which just kept returning a 404. I thought this was a problem with the MT installed on BugPowder and resolved to re-install in the next day. 24 hours later it was all fine and dandy. Shrug of shoulders and life goes on.
Exactly the same thing has happened here. I edited the template to remove the “I’m looking for a room in Brum” strapline but it wouldn’t save. I figured it hadn’t saved at all and since it was late (remember I’m up at 5.00am these days) just left it. Turns out it had managed to save a few lines and when someone left a comment the page rebuilt with the new crippled template.
This has never happened before and has happened on two different versions of MT on two different servers. So it’s not MT and it’s not the servers. It must be something to do with this (perfectly good) Win98-connecting-by-Virgin-broadband computer. Though I’m buggered if I can even conceive of what it might be…
So, no template messing from this PC without LOTS of backups.
Most annoying this I was really in the mood to do some writing tonight and it looks like I’ll be hacking html instead…
