ebay shock

When you put things on ebay you generally have a vague idea what kind of price they’re going to sell for. And then sometimes you’re completely wrong. I mean, would you pay £41 (at time of writing – still 6 hours to go) for 11 Freak Brothers comics? Is there a rare one in that set or something? I’ll have to pop online tomorrow before work just to see how mad this goes!

Ebay is a strange place. Aplle recently dropped the price of the Airport wireless card to £59.00, but someone is bidding £58.00+ for a second hand one on Ebay. I suspect that a lot of bids are from ‘dodgy’ accounts for price ramping. I normally check the bid history before getting involved.

Either there are some very stupid people out there who have no knowledge of an items real value, or some Ebay’ers are playing dirty.

Um, this page doesn’t really need any action, being over 18 months old, but thanks anyway.

I haven’t used eBay for ages but I get the feeling it’s not quite as cool as it used to be. But then that’s the nature of community web services. They’re cool to begin with until they pass that point (I think the term is “jump the shark”) when the unwashed masses get involved and then it all goes horribly wrong. I guess the answer is some kind of elitist gating policy based on a friend-of-a-friend system. Keep the scum out. ;)
